Bob McCarter and his dad sure did a great job on this '46 Tudor. Here's a picture of the cars interior. Following is what Bob wrote about the car:
I started with a stock frame but added a Fatman ultra low front end. Then added 2 inch dropped spindles and 1 inch lowered coils to get it in the weeds. In the rear I added a Granada 8 inch rear with parallel leaf springs. Chassis Engineering sway bars on both ends keep it flat in the turns. Power comes from a Chevy 350/350 combo, nothing radical, just a mild cam to give it that right sound while exiting though 2 and 1/2 inch exhaust and 2 chamber flowmasters.
The body is mostly stock except for just smoothing of the chrome. LED tail lights and turn signals help keep the body void of any thing that would stick out. I wanted to keep manual door handles so I used 39 ford handles since 46 though 48 look sort of funny when the chrome is missing.
Inside things are kept very simple since I planed to drive the car a lot. Vintage Air makes those midsummer days more bearable while an Alpine / Infinity sound system keep flowing out cool tunes for the passengers. Hey, there is a lot of room in one of these sedans. So far the max count in mine is 8 people and we were not cramped, well sort of. I used the front and rear seats out of a late model Bonniville for more modern seating. Using that rear seat out of the later model car gave me 5 more inches of leg room in the back. Not that it was cramped baked there. A late model tilt wheel and manual windows finish up the simple interior.
Just a simple ride that gets the job done. It has been to the Turkey Run and most of the other big car shows on the east cost. But the car gets most of its miles from daily driving. It gets driven when ever and where ever I can get the opportunity. Like I said, most of the work was done by ether my dad or me. The heavy fabrication was done by friends (it needed new floors and rocker panels), paint and body work was done by my father ( hey, he made me do most of the sanding, he got to do the fun part) while I did most of the assembly and the interior my self.
Be on the look out for my next project to hit the streets next summer, a 32 ford roadster. It will be easy to spot, just look for the guy with the way big grin on his face from driving it.
